The downloaded and installed “Desktop version” of Microsoft Word has been around since I first started using computers, apparently it was released in 1983, and it has grown and gone through many makeovers over the years. It has been many years since the initial release, and with UX dominating the job boards, how, at this stage, is Word not offering the same consistent experience across their online and offline software? Surely the reason isn’t just computing power! It was something I thought would get better with time, growing pains, and I didn’t question it. I was relieved thinking about how clean my desktop would be, but it became apparent that there is reduced functionality.
